" ...This book gives me everything I could want. Well except a beautiful female Monkey to rub my shoulders and bring me beer while I play…But come on, it’s just a hint book. "
Title: Wizards & Warriors Official Strategy Guide by Brady Games
  Format: PC Hint Book
  Reviewing Monkey: Chimpan-A
The Hype: The game is long, and the puzzles are not intuitive. Now there’s a hint book to tell you what to do and where to go!
  What This Monkey Thought...
Layout: The layout for the guide can be a little hard to follow at times, but only because you’ll be flipping back and forth between certain sections, they begin with character info, work their way through all the aspects of the different races, and classes (with opinions on how to do it best), before moving on to spells. Then comes the walk-through itself. The walk-through is arrayed a little oddly. First it tells you what there is to be gained in the town, and then it tells you how to get through the dungeons. The intervening space between town and dungeon is covered only on the map. 3.5 out of 5
Usefulness: The book does prove to be quite useful. It gives a handy display of all of the roles, including special and elite roles, and tells you how to attain each of them. While it covers a lot of information to be found in the instruction booklet, it goes into further detail, giving useful tips. Without the walk-through, there are certain puzzles that are going to keep you stumped for hours. Plus it gives a good idea of how to get through the dungeon in an efficient manner. Following the dungeon tips will get you through the dungeon, both in one piece, and without wandering like an idiot everywhere. The books usefulness is tainted somewhat by a few errors, but for the most part, the book is a must have for successful completion. 4 out of 5
Desired Content: Well, all I really wanted was to be told what to do when I’m in the dungeon, and what character to make for ultimate success. This book does that. By covering everything the instruction book covers, plus additional info for my use, this book gives me everything I could want. Well except a beautiful female Monkey to rub my shoulders and bring me beer while I play…But come on, it’s just a hint book. Yeesh. 5 out of 5
Accuracy: Oh how they mighty can screw up. The game has a somewhat randomized quality to it, so the book can be forgiven a few errors in monster placement. Unfortunately a few errors in puzzle solutions can waste hours of your time, and that’s unforgivable. Usually the tougher puzzles are given their own insert, to separate them from the main walk-through. One of the most galling errors is in a puzzle solution that tells you to follow the corresponding picture, and then proceeds to print the wrong picture! Leaving you to wander around trying to solve the puzzle, while disease filled monsters spawn around you constantly. No, I am not best pleased with accuracy. 2.5 out of 5
  The Verdict:
Even with some accuracy problems, this hint book is incredibly useful. For those of you who have been struggling to complete this never-ending dungeon crawl of a game, buy this. |
The Good: A good compilation of information you’ll need to complete the game.
The Bad: A few glaring errors, alongside a few minor ones
The Overall Ugly: Good bang for your buck. And since nobody seems to want to cover the whole thing on the Internet, an even better buy.
  What it's Worth: Market price
