" What that means, of course, is that its application in your personal collection may be fairly limited but for those of us with a sincere love of the traditional it's a must have. "
  Title: Vampryre by Midnight Syndicate
  Format: Ambiance Soundtrack
  Reviewing Monkey: Mojo Jojo
  What This Monkey Thought...
We first heard
the name Midnight Syndicate at this year's GAMA trade show…but for those of
you who, like us, might be haunted house or LARP aficionados the "music" that
the Syndicate plays will sound very familiar indeed. A CD designed for mood
and ambiance their series of horror soundtracks has been featured in just about
major scare attraction the world has to offer.
Though your typical
gamer may be tempted to assume that a CD titled Vampyre would be aimed at your
standard World of Darkness player, what it is, in fact, is a much more traditional
romp through the classics of the vampire lore. Filled with thick organ music,
deep bass and booming drums, and a droning chorus, Vampyre represents the creatures
of the night from the golden age of Hollywood horror. Two minutes in front of
this album and you'll be reminiscing about Nosferatu, The Curse of Dracula,
and all the fantastically melodramatic blood sucker flicks you've lost but not
forgotten to the annals of time.
What that means,
of course, is that its application in your personal collection may be fairly
limited but for those of us with a sincere love of the traditional it's a must
have. Booming, rich, and hypnotic…it's the perfect background to the All Hallows
party you've always wanted to have.
