" Well, it didn’t tell me how to get into the secret 'Mary Jane / Black Cat Love Triangle Mode' that I so wanted to be there... "

Title: Spider-Man Strategy Guide by Brady Games

   Format: PSX Hint Book

   Reviewing Monkey: Dungapult

The Hype: Spider-Man, one of the most hyped new games of 2000, widely hailed as the best super-hero/comic game of all time, now has its own official hint book.

      What This Monkey Thought...

Layout: Boo-Yah! This hint book is Monkey magic! Built like a comic book (all the way down to using the patented comic narration font) this does everything to keep you in the game. It’s even designed in a logical order…, which so few hint books now days are. I wanted for nothing as I followed my game through. 5 out of 5

Usefulness: Hmm…This is a toughie. Not because the book isn’t fantastic, but instead because the game is so damned easy! We beat it in the office in something like four hours, which sort of makes me wonder how justifiable it is to spend 13 bucks. Still, if you are having problems with the game (which you had better not let us find out about or we will mock you relentlessly) this is absolutely the book for you. It’s easy flow and good walk through will help even your loser ass triumph. Still, it also has schemes for unlocking costumes, getting hidden items, etc., so for a measly ten spot it’s easily justifiable in having. 5 out of 5

Desired Content: Well, it didn’t tell me how to get into the secret "Mary Jane / Black Cat Love Triangle Mode" that I so wanted to be there, but it did have everything else; elaborated instructions on how to play, 3D maps of the levels, full walk through, tips and tricks, item locations, bios on all the costumes and guest stars, the whole nine yards. Hell, it even had a special "Behind the Scenes" on the making of the game! Keen! The only thing it didn’t have was the cheats to get all the costumes, but oh well (I’ll post them at the end of this review for y’all). 4 out of 5

Accuracy: Well, they seem to disagree with my theory of Doc Ock secretly being a "Bondage Baby" transvestite, but otherwise they’re right on. Everything was where they said it would be and the maps were accurate. This makes me happy…And when I’m happy I don’t do bad things to puppies. 5 out of 5

   The Verdict:

All in all, this hint book kicks Monkey! It’s a shame the game is so damned easy, otherwise you’d need this a lot more. Still, I’d suggest picking it up if you want the full skinny.

   The Good: Just about everything.

   The Bad: Not enough cheats.

The Overall Ugly: A great hint book. More in the industry should look like this.
