Title: Born of the Night by Midnight Syndicate

      Format: Ambiance Soundtrack

      Reviewing Monkey: Mojo Jojo

      What This Monkey Thought...

We first heard the name Midnight Syndicate at this year's GAMA trade show…but for those of you who, like us, might be haunted house or LARP aficionados the "music" that the Syndicate plays will sound very familiar indeed. A CD designed for mood and ambiance their series of horror soundtracks has been featured in just about major scare attraction the world has to offer.
That being said, it should come as no surprise that Born of the Night seems perfect for blaring at trick or treaters or to fill the halls of your haunted house. Its almost 48 minutes is jam packed with eery moans, creepy organs, some cool techno spine crawlers, some appropriately dire sound effects, and a bit of spoken word. The quality is top notch and, though the voiceovers can be a bit too melodramatic, the melodic instrumentals and sweet sound effects will make this a great choice over the b-movies all too many people put on for background at their Halloween parties.
All in all it is a perfect rip for adding to a spookfest and a few of the tracks may even inspire you into some pretty sadistic mind sets (I personally found it a great CD for some of the horror writing I do in my spare time). And while many of the tracks may work admirably for the occasional gothic horror dungeon crawl, some gamers may find that the spoken word is just too pronounced to be left as adventure background music.
