" It doesn’t tell you how to unlock the secret "Machine Gun" mode I know they included in there somewhere… "

Title: Tenchu 2 Strategy Guide by Brady Games

      Format: Playstation Hint Book

      Reviewing Monkey: Chimpan-A

The Hype: Now to help you un-stealthy monkeys get through this tough game we have a helpful hint book.

      What This Monkey Thought...

Layout: The book starts out with basics, hits on the mission editor, and then gives the full walk-through. It’s all pretty simple, and you’ll have little problem following along with them. It gives each characters walk-through in their own section, which means flipping back and forth if you’re alternating between the two. Very well put forth. 5 out of 5

Usefulness: Without this book, the learning curve on this game resembles a cliff. With this book, it looks more like a large hill. This book eliminates a lot of the messy guesswork that comes with sneaking around unfamiliar territory. By keeping you abreast of both where you are going, and what you’ll find when you get there this book keeps you alive more times than I can reasonably count. 5 out of 5

Desired Content: Well, it doesn’t tell me how to turn on the "Stealth Ninja’s Tactical Nuclear Strike" but otherwise it’s got what I need. The book covers all the levels, tells me how to get the special ninja items. Better it covers the level in a way as to get you through it with a Grand Master score, thus securing even better items. Its personal combat coverage could be better, but since you shouldn’t be getting into much of that (even though you will) it’s not sorely missed. 4.5 of 5

Accuracy: Your adversaries tend to go on patrol, and the levels can be a little different looking than the map you’re given. The maps they use are taken from the automap the game gives you. These maps don’t necessarily show height, though. All this adds up to some slightly confusing instructions. All in all though, people are generally where they say they’re going to be. That’s what counts. 4 out of 5

      The Verdict:

I’m not going to say that you’re screwed without this hint book, but without this hint book, you’re boned. The walk through will literally pick you up and carry you through this game. The game is still challenging (very challenging), but this book keeps it from being unapproachable. 4.5 out of 5

The Good: Useful to no end. Keeps you alive, and tells you how to get the best score.

The Bad: It doesn’t tell you how to unlock the secret "Machine Gun" mode I know they included in there somewhere…

The Overall Ugly: If you have Tenchu 2, get this book. Now.
